Nestled at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains in the heart of the Cabernet country, Dana Estates is dedicated to making small lots of truly distinctive world class wines. The original winery was constructed in 1883 by vinter H.W. Helms. Architect Howard Backen worked closely with the winemaker Philippe Melka to design a winery that allowed the winemaking team the space and facilities to control all aspects of the vinification process from the time the grapes arrive from the vineyards through the time they are finished aging in the caves. Meticulous farming of exceptional vineyards gives the winery the potential to make great wines. The grapes are hand harvested under a careful direction of Philippe Melka.
