Founded in 1984, Harlan Estate is a winegrowing estate in the western hills of Oakville, California in the heart of the Napa Valley. The vision is to produce a California "First Growth" from the hills of Oakville. All hillside siting, on both volcanic and sedimentary bedrock and has a combination of terraced vineyards and closely spaced vines on spare soils over fractured rock. It's hard to say exactly why the wines are as good as they are, except to point to obvious factors, such as location, terroir and the talents of Harlan's longtime team, most of whom have been with Harlan since the mid-1980's. Winemakers believe that the land speaks to them of possibilities. A winemaker's goal is to express those possibilities, to capture the best of what the land has to offer.
