Borsao Campo de Borja was found in 1958 in the town of Borja, called Bursao in the 4th century B.C. This winery represents what can be done with Garnacha, a grape that is not well appreciated by the Spanish press. Through meticulous selection work in the fields and at reception time in the winery, modern winemaking produce these highly fruity wines. They are best examples of the region known as "The Garnacha land of Spain, the lower part of the Ebro River.
Bodegas Borsao 2008 is a blend of 80% Garnacha, 20% Tempranillo. It has red berry and cherry aromas and offers good clarity and energy. Supple in texture, with sweet raspberry flavor and gentle tannic grip. Darker fruits appear on the juicy finish. Very suave for the price. The wine is stainless-steel fermented. The vineyards are divided between the chalky soil of alluvial terraces of the Ebro River at 1,200 ft. in elevation and the more complex soils of the hillside vineyards on the Moncayo mountain range 1,950 ft. in elevation.
