Yalumba was established in 1849 by Samuel Smith, a british migrant. He started planting the first vines by moonlight and named his patch “Yalumba”-all the land around. Six generations and more than 150 years later Yalumba, Australia’s oldest family owned winery has grown in size, embodying all that made the Australian wine success story the envy of winemakers the world over.
Yalumba Winery is focused on natural resources. It takes its environmental responsibilities seriously and is proud to be the first wine company in the world to receive the “Climate Protection Award” and the “Green Apple Award” for environmental best practices.
All six winemakers are critical to ensure they maintain both high standards and individuality of wines. They constantly challenge the status quo in the search for the perfect wine. The excitement around these winemakers and the awards of the winery has prompted us at Passion Vines to highlight this wine for all our friends.
