It is aromatic, full and densely colored, with a long finish of dark fruits. The wine is elegant and balanced — it is both enjoyable to drink young and can age 5-7 years.
Andre Iche inheretied this estate some 25 years ago while it was in great dis-repair. He spent many years nursing the 100+ year old Cinsault vines back to health and repairing the chateau and winery. 15 years ago when Iche was in his 60's he was finally noticed by a Burgunduan winemaker who fell in love with his wines and convinced Iche to bottle and market his production. This wine is aromatic, full and densely colored, with a long finish of dark fruits. Robert Parker wrote about this wine, Chteau d'Oupia has produced the ideal bistro wine. Dark, ruby-colored, the wine is wonderfully clean and pure, with an exuberant personality, and gobs of rich, peppery, red and black fruit.... Bravo to proprietor Andr Ich!
