Excellent and harmonious body, very complex scent, precise and intelligent winemaking, one of the best wines of the Pomerol border in this vintage and the resurrection of very good terroir. There are wonderful aromas of black cherries, herbs, menthol and spice, followed by richly concentrated fruit flavors and a persistently pleasing tannic finish.
In the late 1990's, when proprietor Olivier Decelle was searching for Bordeaux properties to purchase, he was looking for both unique and excellent terroir characteristics of which Jean-Faure has in abundance. Like its famous neighbor Cheval Blanc, a majority of Jean-Faure's planting is to old-vine Cabernet Franc. Part visionary, part taskmaster, and 100% dedicated to world-class Bordeaux, Decelle has in a few short years transformed this neglected estate to the levels expected of a top-tier St.-Emilion property. This is the stuff Bordeaux dreams are made of.
