Valmy and Philippe Bernède have inherited their ''savoir-faire'' from six generations of wine-growers. The Clos La Coutale, a 60 hectares estate spreads over a stretch of land on the alluvial floor of the valley amid the meanders of the river Lot. The winery uses modern techniques but respecting traditional methods. Clos La Coutale is a combination of great natural factors, know-how and experience transmitted for six generations.

Classification AOC. Composition 70% Malbec, 15%Merlot, 15% Tannat. Winemaking Process vinification is carried out in thermo-controlled vats. Clos la Coutale is then elaborated in oak barrels to obtain a full balance between the tannins and the fruit. Vineyard Characteristics the vineyard has a south western exposure. Its soil is particulary suitable for vines, for it contains gravels, silicates and limestone clays. The vine-plants belong to Cot or Malbec, that are traditionnaly used in the making of the Cahors wine. Alcohol 13%. |
