Wine Spectator 91 points - Smoky caramel aromas join ripe fig and melon fruit in this full-bodied, well-oaked wine, made in a style for those who enjoy a strong oak presence. Drink now through 2012. 2,550 cases made. –JL (May 31 2009)
Robert Parker 91 points - The 2006 Chardonnays follow suit, with the 2006 Chardonnay Russian River beautifully floral, with plenty of honeysuckle, citrus oil, mineral, and hazelnut. It is ripe, fleshy, and altogether a delicious example of this varietal that should drink nicely for 4-5 years.
Proprietor Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith, are doing sensational work in the cool-climate areas of the Russian River. This has become one of my favorite tastings of the year, and not only are their Chardonnays and Pinot world-class, but they have extended their brilliance to both Viognier and Syrah. This is a winery that is clearly on top of its game and pushing all the right buttons in terms of quality. (Dec 2007)
The Dumol Estate was purchased in 2003 & 2004. It has been progressing as planned. The unique low vigor sites are located in the heart of the Green Valley appellation. The 2007 harvest marked the first fruit from Dumol estate vineyards.
Andy Smith is the winemaker behind Dumol and it is said that today he is one of the most gifted and charismatic winemakers. His specialty is intense Burgundian Chardonnays that offer deep mineral flavors with great texture and wonderful balance.
