Color: Deep purple
Nose: Complex aromas of toast, minerals, sour cherries, cedar, spices.
Palate: The rich body, subtle texture and fine, ripe tannins are typical for this wine of great finesse, the quintessential expression of the land and the Nebbiolo grape.
Robert Parker 95 points - With its delicate, aromatic nose of flowers, spices, minerals and menthol, the 2001 Sori Tildin is less overtly lush than Costa Russi, offering much delineation in its elegant macerated cherry fruit and tar flavors, with greater length, fine tannins and exceptional overall balance. It is always the most nuanced and classic of the Gaja single-vineyard wines. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2023. (Oct 2006)
Wine Spectator 95 points - Wow. This is pure fruit. Aromas of raspberries, cherries and blackberries jump from the glass. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish. Shows wonderful finesse and class. Best after 2009. 1,050 cases made. –JS (Oct 31 2005)
