Technical notes
Classification DO.
Composition Tempranillo.
Winemaking Process Muga Gran Reserva is fermented and aged in a mixture of American and French oak with minimum 36 months in both barrel and bottle prior to commercial release. Less than 3% of each vintage would be reserved for archival aging so quantities of these older vintages are extremely rare .
Vineyard Characteristics Bodegas Muga vineyards are located on the foot of the Montes Obarenses, within the area called Rioja Alta. The site climate is exceptional due to the singular geography and orientation of the vines and Mediterranean, Atlantic and Continental climates are combined harmoniously thus creating a suitable climatic site for growing grape. The soil in this area is mostly clay and limestone, divided in small terroirs with different physical and chemical qualities between them, thus each terroir has a unique and defined personality.
This archival offer is a collection of the Bodega's best vintages direct from their cellar in Haro, Rioja. Pre-datingPrado Enea , the Gran Reserva is comprised of the most intensive selection from the estate's fivevineyard sites and the oldest vines of their . The last vintage of Gran Reserva
