In 1999, La Livinière (meaning “place planted with vines”), located in the heart of the Minervois between Toulouse and Montpellier, became the first vineyard to receive recognition in the Languedoc region. It’s the home of Château Maris, which would convert to biodynamic farming just two years later, becoming one of the first area growers to do so. This elegant, approachable red blend tells the chateau’s story in this plush, juicy blend of Syrah and Merlot. Unfined, unfiltered, and bottled without added sulphur, the wine offers notes of rich plum, blackberry, and pink flowers, balanced by subtle spice and forest herbs. Recently hailed as a great value by The New York Times' Eric Asimov, this red is a great match for roasted root vegetables, grilled hanger steak with mushrooms, and a host of Mediterranean dishes.
