Rostaing Description

Hints of peppery spice and licorice add complexity to the blueberry and cassis-scented nose of the 2017 Cote Rotie Ampodium. It's medium to full-bodied, with silky but firm tannins and a long, dusty finish. It should be approachable in a couple of years but drink gracefully for a decade and a half.
The 2017 Côte Rôties are all beautiful wines and did nothing to dampen my opinion that Côte Rôtie was the gem of the Northern Rhône in 2017. The entry-level 2017 Côte Rôtie Ampodium offers classic notes of bacon fat, spring flowers, and sweet red and black fruits in its medium-bodied, seamless, and incredibly elegant profile.
Deep, brilliant violet. A mineral-tinged bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, peony and licorice, and a peppery flourish builds as the wine opens up. Shows impressive energy on the palate, offering juicy boysenberry and cherry compote flavors complemented by suggestions of spicecake and candied licorice. Sweet and seamless in texture, finishing on a lingering floral note, with impressive energy and smooth, harmonious tannins.
